Pot luck meals are the perfect opportunity to gather together with friends and family in a way that is cost efficient for the host. The reason why these gatherings are called pot luck meals, is because all of the guest are tasked with bringing over a dish or a meal. Since no one really knows what will be served until they arrive at the event, these surprise dish meals were called pot lucks.
